| Educational Program |
Our 2005 program included an educational program to students at Copper Ridge and Desert Canyon Elementary and Middle Schools. This was made possible through the support of the ECHO Foundation.
The program entitled "Bach and Forth" included five master musicians with over 120 years of experience presenting a musical journey through time. The musicians were gathered from Arizona Opera Orchestra, Symphony of the West Valley and the Phoenix Symphony, and they have play together in the past. For this special educational venue their musical pieces incorporated the strings, woodwinds and percussion families and traveled all the way from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Industrial periods through the Romantic, Ragtime and Shenandoah Time.
The musicians took the time to discuss the history of each piece and also gave explanations of the instruments. They shared stories from each period to spark the students' imaginations helping them visualize their experience.
Students, staff, parents, and teachers were invited to attend the program. Approximately 1,000 were in attendance for the performances.
"Your talented musicians provided an exceptional educational and enriching experience for the students. They explained each instrument, and performed musical pieces demonstrating how the instruments work together to create such beautiful and rewarding music. The music was introduced to the students at their level of learning, intriguing their minds and allowing for future interest in the world of music. It has been a pleasure working with you to provide such an intimate experience for the students."
